Parameter

LOW fear Professional
The internal settings or "knobs" inside an AI model that determine how it makes decisions and generates text.

In Plain English

Parameters are like the millions of tiny dials on a massive soundboard. During training, the AI constantly adjusts these dials until it gets the right answers. The more parameters a model has, the more complex patterns it can learn, which is why newer models are often described by their massive parameter counts (like 70 billion). However, more parameters also mean the AI requires more expensive computers to run.

Real-World Example

A tech company announcing their new AI model has 8 billion parameters, meaning it is relatively small and can run on a laptop.
